Readio Network is an online service, allowing our members to read-aloud, record, and playback recordings of their favorite stories. The service is currently being offered as part of a non commercial Alpha trial and all materials and communication displayed on this website and used in conjunction with this service should be viewed and used in that context.
Information collection
Readio Network collects user submitted information such as first name, email address, state of residence and age to personalize Readio Network's services and to send to users notifications relating to the Readio Network service. Readio Network may also collect other profile data including but not limited to: personal interests and gender in order to provide members with the ability to identify and familiarize with other Readio Network members. Such information will not be shared with other entities.
Readio Network may also log non-personally identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to members. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes only.
User Profile information including members' pictures and first names may be displayed to enrich the community experience. Email addresses are used for the purposes of sending notifications related to the service and for inviting members to Readio Network. A user's email address is not shared or displayed on the site. We may also use a user's email address to send updates, a newsletter or news regarding the service.
From time to time, Readio Network or a partner, may sponsor a promotion, sweepstake or contest on Readio Network.com. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate. We may transfer personal information to certain ad partners that you have explicitly requested to receive information from. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply.
Registration and consent
Although users are able to access some areas of the Web Site without registering, a parent or legal guardian must register and activate a Readio account in order to access for a child to use the Reading Program. You will be asked to submit certain personal information about your child and you as described in this Privacy Policy, and to authorize Readio Network to use that information in a limited number of ways. By providing agreeing to the end user license agreement displayed as part of the installation process, and reviewing and submitting the Parental Consent as part of the registration process, you will have consented to Readio Network's collection and use of certain information directly from your child over the Internet.
Use of cookies
A cookie is a small amount of data sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive, then sent back to the server by your browser each time you access the Web Site. Only Readio Network can access information from cookies we create on our site and we never store sensitive information such as usernames or passwords in cookies. Cookies enable us to temporarily store information about what pages you visit on the Readio Network Web Site (“Tracking Information”). We use this Tracking Information to manage and administer our Web Site. Readio Network does not, and cannot, use cookies to retrieve personal information from your computer.
Readio Network may contain links to other sites, and we make every effort to link only to sites that share our high standards and respect for privacy. However, we are not responsible for the content or the privacy practices employed by other sites.
Correcting/updating or removing information
Readio Network members may modify or remove any of their personal information at any time by logging into their account editing their Profile.
Third party advertising
Ads appearing on this Web site may be delivered to users by Readio Network or one of our Web advertising partners. Our Web advertising partners may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad servers may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by Readio Network and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.
Security
Readio Network's database resides behind firewalls in order to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. We have taken preventive measures to restrict access to sensitive data, as well as to detect and prohibit certain connections and operations by unauthorized users. While our measures exceed industry standards, no claim is made as to the impenetrability of the system under unusual circumstance or its resilience to future attacks.
Public forum
The Readio Network web site may contain and allow its users to post articles on books and reading, as well as general postings of messages in blogs, chat rooms, bulletin boards or other forums. If Readio Network provides such services, you expressly agree to use such services only to send messages and material that are appropriate and that are related to the topic of the particular forum. Readio Network does not edit or control the information or materials posted to or distributed through any chat rooms, bulletin boards or other communications forums, and will not be in any way responsible or liable for such information or materials and claims no proprietary rights of any kind arising from the posting or distribution of information or material in such forums. Readio Network nevertheless reserves the right for any reason in its sole discretion to remove without notice any contents of any such forum. By posting or distributing information or material through such forums, you expressly abandon any proprietary rights you may have in such information or material, and such information or material may be freely used, copied and distributed, in any medium and in any form, by Readio Network without your permission. You agree not to post or distribute any information or material that is copyrighted by any third party without the express written consent of such party, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Readio Network from any claim arising out of or relating to your violation of this provision.
PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN DECIDING TO DISCLOSE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. Users under the age of 18 should be particularly careful not to provide any personally identifying information while using chat rooms or message boards. Users of chat areas and message boards must follow acceptable standards of behavior when posting messages online. Readio Network reserves the right to, but is not obligated to, refuse or delete any content that in our sole discretion is considered inappropriate.
Sharing and disclosure of information Readio Network collects
Except as described above, Readio Network will not disclose personal information to any third party without a user's explicit permission unless required by law. Readio Network reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of the sale of Readio Network or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest. Privacy policy changes
Readio Network may make changes its privacy policy from time to time. If such changes are made, Readio Network will post them on the site to make users aware of what the changes are so users will always be aware of what information is collected, how it is used, and when we may disclose it. A User is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted.
Termination
Readio Network reserves the right in its sole discretion, to choose to terminate, limit, reduce, change or deny at any time, temporarily or permanently the access granted to any Readio Network user account, Services and information or any part thereof
Readio Network reserves the right to end the Alpha trial at any time for any reason whatsoever or no reason at all, without prior notice.
